One Room Challenge – Week 3 Update

Defining Home

Welcome back to The Living Room! We’re in Week 3 of the One Room Challenge, and it’s amazing to see how much a few foundational changes can alter the entire feel of a space. For this entry & dining Room makeover, this week I focused on some major updates that have already made a world of difference: saying goodbye to old carpet and starting fresh with new LVP flooring, along with the preliminary stages of painting.

Out with the Old, In with the New: Rabun Hickory LVP Flooring

One of the biggest changes this week has been replacing the old carpet with DuraLux Performance Rabun Hickory Waterproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Plank from Floor & Decor. I chose this flooring for a few key reasons: it’s waterproof, durable, and easy to maintain, which makes it perfect not only for our family’s needs right now but also for potential future rental options. With the current real estate market being as unpredictable as it is, having a versatile and resilient flooring option means we’re prepared whether we decide to stay or rent this home in the future.

Partnering with Sherwin Williams: Fresh Paint for a Fresh Start

For the entryway, we partnered with Sherwin Williams Emerald Interior Acrylic Latex Paint to give it a bright and welcoming feel. We went with their color SW 7004 Snowbound for the walls, trim, and ceiling, creating a crisp and clean look that enhances the natural light and makes the space feel airy and open. Snowbound is such a versatile white—it’s warm enough to feel inviting but still bright and fresh, which makes it perfect for an entryway that sets the tone for the whole home.

Painting is always one of my favorite steps in a project because it provides an instant transformation. The new color has already started to brighten up the space, complementing the new flooring beautifully and adding a sophisticated backdrop that will work seamlessly with the upcoming design elements.

What’s Next?

Next up, I’ll be selecting furniture and adding those wellness-focused design elements that make this dining room not just a beautiful space, but one that nourishes the spirit. Each step brings us closer to the final reveal, and I’m thrilled to share more updates with you as the project progresses.

Thank you for following along! Be sure to check out the “before” photos and the initial plans in my Week 1 post to see just how far we’ve come. There’s much more to reveal, so stay tuned!
